Christo obtained his degree at the University of Pretoria in 1982 and his honours in 1986.

After completion of his studies, he started to work in the Test Division at the City Council, Germiston. Thereafter he transferred to the Construction & Planning Division. In July 1986 he joined Nienaber & van der Walt Consulting Engineers and in July 1987 he became a partner in the business. His responsibilities included project management, office administration, tenders and evaluation, township reticulation and building services. He did part-time lecturing in Electrical Engineering (Pre- and Postgraduate courses) at the University of Pretoria. Between 1989 and 1992 Christo was a member of Nortjé & Associates and responsible for administrative and financial management, marketing, client liaison, project management and other aspects of consulting electrical engineering. In 1992 he joined the City Council of Springs and became the City Electrical and Mechanical Engineer. His duties included administrative and financial management; budget control (±R200 million), customer relations, trade union negotiations, design, planning and maintenance of the electrical network (up to 132kV), and project management. He was chairman of the IT Committee, Main Occupational Health & Safety Committee and the AMEU (Association of Municipal Electricity Undertakings) Highveld Branch.
With the establishment of Mapule Consulting (Pty) Ltd in 1999, he took on the responsibilities of managing director with all the associated duties. He remains part of this consulting practice with the associated experience as listed till date.
Gideon completed his studies in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pretoria and continued his employment with UCOR up to 1986.

From 1986 to 1990 he joined BKS Incorporated, Pretoria. He was involved in the planning, design and supervision of the electronic building services of the Armscor Head Office Building, the Pretoria Supreme Court, road lighting of the Ben Schoeman Freeway, electrical services to the N17 toll plazas, emergency power generators, uninterruptible power supply systems and reticulation systems on various other projects. In 1996 he transferred to Bellville office as head of the electrical department. He was involved with the electrical and electronic services for hospitals, fire detection and electrical services of buildings, reticulation projects and industrial buildings. These included emergency generator systems and UPS systems. He compiled various electrical master plan development schemes for major development proposals. His speciality fields are MV & LV reticulation, lighting, electronic services and energy efficiency. In 1997 Gideon Naudé founded a mechanical engineering manufacturing venture, Soilquip cc, but still executed electrical consulting engineering work.
He became one of the founder directors of Mapule Consulting (Pty) Ltd in 1999 and is the founder and managing member of Mapule Consulting Cape cc. His experience covers all of the above fields as well as substations, pharmaceutical facilities, institutional buildings, high-end residential projects, offices and water treatment / pump station projects. He has experience in electronic building services, energy conservation, alternative energy and energy efficiency improvement projects.
He has a long standing passion and involvement with lighting and lighting projects. He remains part of this consulting practice with the associated experience as listed till date.
